TERRELL CO., GA – Two women sustained injuries Wednesday in a wrong-way crash along the highway in southeast Terrell County.
The two-vehicle accident occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m. on GA-520 near mile marker 18, which is just northwest of Sasser and about 70 miles southeast of Columbus.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a westbound 2019 Nissan Sentra entered the eastbound side of GA-520 and collided head-on with an eastbound 2014 Toyota Camry.
Medics airlifted one of the drivers to an area hospital with serious injuries. The other driver went to the hospital with non-critical injuries.
Officials closed the highway and urged drivers to pursue alternate routes while emergency teams worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
