Narrative
FORSYTH, GA – One person died Monday in a wrong-way accident along the interstate in central Monroe County.
The accident happened around 3:17 p.m. on I-75 near Ramble Road in the city of Forsyth. This is about 24 miles northwest of Macon.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a vehicle entered the wrong side of the interstate and collided head-on with a semi-truck. The force of the collision caused the wrong-way vehicle to catch fire.
The driver of the wrong-way vehicle died at the scene of the accident. Authorities have not yet released their identity.
Officials closed all of the southbound lanes and one of the northbound lanes while crews worked to clear the scene.
