Narrative
GAINESVILLE, GA – An 8-year-old child sustained serious injuries Monday when a vehicle crashed into a apartment in Gainesville.
The incident happened at the Lenox Park Apartments on Lenox Park Drive, which is just north of the Athens Highway and east of I-985.
Police say the 19-year-old driver of an SUV accidentally crashed through the window of one of the apartments, hitting the child.
Medics airlifted the child to an area hospital.
The driver of the SUV, identified as Erickson Mondesir, fled the scene on foot. Authorities soon located an arrested Mondesir on multiple charges, including driving while unlicensed or expired, duty to stop at the scene of an accident, and serious injury by vehicle.
A full investigation is underway.
