Narrative
BARTOW CO., GA – Three adults and a teenager died Sunday in a wrong-way collision involving five vehicles along the interstate in northwestern Georgia.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on the southbound side of I-75 in Bartow County.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a northbound Kia van entered the southbound side of the roadway and collided head-on with two southbound vehicles, a Chevy Tahoe and a Toyota 4Runner. A Honda SUV and a commercial vehicle then became involved in the chain-reaction.
Three people in the Kia van and the driver of the 4Runner died at the scene of the accident. Authorities identified the victims as 43-year-old Dakarai Mason, 35-year-old Erin Mason, 14-year-old Brandon Crawford, and 21-year-old Aimee Odom.
Three people went to the hospital, one via air ambulance. Officials haven’t yet commented on the extent of their injuries.
