Narrative
AUGUSTA, GA – One person was hospitalized, and a 28-year-old man lost his life following a two-vehicle collision in the Pine Valley neighborhood Monday.
This collision happened before 11:30 a.m. in the 2300 block of Walden Drive. The Richmond County Coroner’s Office said the 28-year-old man was driving a vehicle on the eastbound lanes when, for reasons unknown, crossed over into the westbound directions, colliding with another vehicle. As a result, the 28-year-old man, who was identified as Herbert Marcus Smith, 28 years old from Augusta, got trapped inside his car. He was extricated and then succumbed to fatal injuries a short time later at the scene.
A passenger with Smith was sent to Wellstar MCG Hospital for treatment. No other details have been provided.
